The Youngest Highest Paid CEO in the US

Dara Khosrowshahi was 9 years old when he left his Tehran home with his family. They were headed for their regular vacation in the south of France. There was a revolution that was going on and shaking up his native country,  Iran. It meant that his family never returned home. They eventually found a new place to call home in Tarrytown, N.Y.

"I like to think I've been on vacation ever since," Mr. Khosrowshahi said.

In 2005, Khosrowshahi become the CEO of Expedia, the largest online travel agency when it was getting ready to spin off from its parent, IAC/InterActiveCorp. Expedia is an Internet-based travel agency and a part of Expedia, Inc. It is headquartered in the U.S. with local offices in 15 countries. Expedia books airline tickets, car rentals, hotel reservations, cruises and vacation packages.

At 39 years old, Khosrowshahi has been the Chief Executive Officer of Expedia for 3 years. His one year total compensation last year was $2.5 million making him the youngest, highest paid executive in the country.
