A Designated Officer for Each Position
Less isn’t always more. Many businesses start up with one person, usually the owner, being responsible for all aspects of the business. For small businesses this could be all that is needed. However, for larger businesses, having designated officers to oversee specific departments and functions. The most common of these are CEO (Chief Executive Officer), CFO (Chief Financial Officer), COO (Chief Operating Officer), and CIO (Chief Information Officer). These roles are usually salary positions, and often members of, or on the board of, a corporation. In the case of a startup, these salaries should be included in initial figures, as well as the cost of marketing and recruiting to locate candidates.
